Do I need a rental car?
This really depends on what kind of vacation you want to have, what you want to see and where you want to go. If you are planning a relaxed and just chill out vacation then no, you don't need a car. You can get to most places in the North by our incredibly efficient and cheap bus system. There is a mall with a grocery store right across the road from us and the bus will take you into Castries, up to Rodney Bay, Gros Islet & almost to Pigeon Point. If you are planning to head into the more adventurous areas, like Cas en Bas, some of the rainforest hikes, Marigot Bay, The Rum Factory or want to drive to Soufriere ... then yes, a car rental would be beneficial.! A couple of caveats, and don't take these as bad things just things to be aware of, we drive on the left, the roads are narrow and Lucians are crazy drivers ... our #1 piece of advise to a driver is to never take your eyes off the vehicle in front of you! They stop erratically and suddenly. There are very few road signs and the maps are poor, but we will give you physical markers to look for when you are heading to different places.! !
For car rental we recommend Drive-a-matic http://www.drivestlucia.com/
Supper is served family style at the big white main table on the veranda at 6:30 ish. If you care to join us on any particular day, just let us know by noon. Do you have beaches nearby?
There are two beaches adjoining our property. The first is a sheltered bay on the North edge of the property and it is a great beach for wading, swimming and enjoying the water. The second starts at the South end of our sea path, the surf is a bit more rough but the beach is fantastic for walking or running as is it 4.5 km (2.5 miles) round trip. There is a reef directly in front of the house and if you want to explore it we recommend that you bring water shoes to protect yourself from sea urchins.
